From Season 2023: Riot Games announces future plans for Valorant eSports

Riot Games today announced future plans for Valorant eSports. This involves new leagues at international and national level, a new mode and the general direction.

Riot Games is setting the course for the future of Valorant eSports. The developer studio today announced changes for the 2023 season. This affects the leagues, modes and alignment.

Among other things, there will be three new international leagues in which the best teams in the world will compete week after week. As long as health and safety measures permit, teams from America, Europe and Asia will play offline in front of a live audience. Later in the year, the top teams from each league will qualify for two international Masters events as well as Valorant Champions, where a single team will be crowned Valorant World Champion.

In addition, a new competitive mode will be launched directly in the client. This is intended to crystallise the most promising talents on a global level. The new game variant complements existing leaderboards and is intended to give fans a new goal beyond the ranking list.

Generate role models for the future

In addition to the international leagues, there will also be fresh national leagues. The best teams of the competitive mode in the game can compete against the best of their region in the respective national leagues.

Furthermore, Riot Games is also taking a new approach to hosting and would like to waive admission or participation fees for selected organisations. The goal: to bind partners in the long term and offer stability to eSports.

“With Valorant, we want to build ambitious, efficiently managed teams that can serve as role models for the industry, in addition to exciting eSports,” explains Whalen Rozelle, Head of eSports Operations at Riot Games, adding, “To ensure the success of our long-term partners, we are waiving admission or participation fees for select organisations. We want our partners to be able to invest their resources in supporting their professionals and growing their fan bases through incredible content. “
