A jersey of basketball legend Michael Jordan could be sold for millions at an auction in New York.
According to auction house Sotheby’s, the jersey worn by Jordan in the first game of the NBA Finals in 1998 is expected to fetch between three and five million US dollars (2.9 to 4.9 million euros). Bids can be submitted from 6 to 14 September.
In 1998, before retiring a second time out of three, what many consider the best of all basketball players had won his last of six championships. Jordan was 35 years old at the time.
The most expensive jersey to date is a shirt of the late Argentine footballer Diego Maradona from 1986, which changed hands last year for a good 8.4 million euros.
