FIFAe Club World Cup play-offs – who will make it?

The last hurdle to get into the FIFAe Club World Cup is coming up. The play-offs take place on Thursday and Friday evening – with good German prospects.

24 places are open for the FIFAe Club World Cup 2022, which will be played between 20 and 23 July. The remaining six German teams in the competition are aiming for one of these places: RB Leipzig, VfL Bochum, 1. FC Köln, FC Schalke 04, VfL Wolfsburg and the IQONIC organisation have qualified for the play-offs.

They will compete together with the Swiss organisation NEO around the newly crowned German FIFA individual champion Dylan ‘DullenMIKE’ Neuhausen as well as Kai ‘Hensoo’ Hense and Reply Totem Esports in the play-offs of the zone “Eastern and Central Europe”. At least two tickets to the FIFAe Club World Cup are up for grabs over the coming round.

Three German duels to start

These will be determined in the double-elimination bracket. Three wins in a row from the start guarantee participation in the eFootball highlight in July. In the event of an initial defeat, four wins must follow. Kick-off is on Thursday evening at 6.30 pm, with the play-offs concluding on Friday evening.

The German teams are still among themselves in the first round: VfL Wolfsburg will take on IQONIC, RB Leipzig and VfL Bochum will meet, and 1. FC Köln will play FC Schalke 04. The two non-German organisations NEO and Reply Totem will contest the fourth and final match to start against each other.

Other zones are also in demand

This constellation means that three German representatives will end up in the second round of the Winner Bracket – and will then be just two wins away from the FIFAe Club World Cup. But it is not only the “Eastern and Central Europe” zone that will be played on Thursday and Friday, the other two European zones are also in demand.

In “Northern Europe”, for example, Manchester City or the renowned organisations EXCEL and Fnatic will fight for places. In “Western and Southern Europe” Ajax Amsterdam, OSC Lille or the organisation DUX Gaming will compete. South and North America have similar schedules, in “Central America and the Caribbean” the decision will be made on Saturday.

Kicking off the hot phase of the season

It’s just the start of the play-off phase of the big eSports competitions of the FIFA 22 season: One week later, the play-offs for the FIFAe Nations Cup will follow, in which the German eNational team will also take part. At the beginning of July, the participants in the FIFAe World Cup will also be determined – the hot phase of the season is just around the corner.
