FIFA 23: Mazraoui as perfect Bayern counterpart to Davies?

The transfer of Noussair Mazraoui to FC Bayern Munich is official, the Moroccan could be the perfect counterpart to Alphonso Davies in FIFA 23.

The discrepancy at the outside defender positions of the German record champion is especially obvious in FIFA 22: While left-back Davies boasts pace values in the mid-90s in FUT as well as in career mode, the alternatives for the right defensive side drop off sharply in that regard.

The often-seeded Benjamin Pavard doesn’t even get into the 70s range in either mode, and Bouna Sarr and Josip Stanisic are also unconvincing. Sarr could probably leave Bayern in the summer, Pavard is prospectively earmarked for the centre of defence – Munich longs for a right-back.

At last some pace down the right

The desired solution now seems to have been found: Mazraoui comes from Ajax Amsterdam – the 24-year-old fits the requirement profile. In FUT The Moroccan shines as in career mode with speed values above the 80 mark, also the dribbling is in a similar range in each case.

His move to a European heavyweight could be accompanied by a slight upgrade in terms of FIFA 23. In the still current title Mazraoui’s overall rating is 80 points in FUT, in career mode he could even increase his overall rating from 80 to 82 since the FIFA 22 release.

Top link options limited

In tandem with Davies, a successful defensive wing-back pairing could virtually be in place for years to come: The Canadian has a potential of 89 in FIFA 22, Mazraoui can increase to 86 points. The combinations with Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané or Kingsley Coman in front should also be interesting.

In terms of FUT chemistry, Mazraoui naturally becomes more interesting as a future Bundesliga player, although his Moroccan nationality is not conducive to link quality. With Frankfurt’s Aymen Barkok, only one other Moroccan is currently active in the German football top flight.

Robben and Ribery in defensive?

If Mazraoui makes the desired impact at FC Bayern, he and Davies could shape an era in the same way that Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery once did offensively. Mazraoui is young enough to also add to the potential for the career mode and slowly but surely move into the mid-80s in FUT.
