In FIFA 23 EA SPORTS revolutionised the chemistry system for FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT). In FC 24 there is now fine-tuning – for your advantage
Icons have been among the most sought-after cards in Ultimate Team since their introduction. In FIFA 23, however, the heroes of the past were difficult to integrate into your own team. This was due to the completely new chemistry system, in which the legends only helped players with the same nation. In terms of team chemistry, the new hero items were therefore a step ahead. However, EA SPORTS has closed this gap with an adjustment and gives the icons in FC 24 the radiance they deserve.
To do this, the developer now also awards league points to the icons in FUT 24 – for each league. This means that Ronaldinho, for example, not only contributes the familiar two chemistry points for Brazilians, but also a league point for all other players in the team. No matter if Premier League, Bundesliga or Chinese Super League.
On the second attempt: Icons draw level with Heroes
Why this is an advantage for you? Compared to last year, icons from more exotic countries are suddenly interesting again in FC 24. In FIFA 23, for example, there was a possibility that a legend like Michael Essien would rob you of crucial chemistry points. After all, only Ghanaians benefited. In FC 24, however, you can easily use the midfield engine for a player whose league point is needed for your construct. After all, Essien brings this with him, no matter what league it is.
In short: The white special cards become equivalent counterparts of the Heroes in the second attempt, which in turn contribute one nation point and two league points.
Position modifiers are omitted
But not only the icons make team building easier. EA SPORTS has also implemented an important and player-friendly change regarding the alternative positions: The position modifiers are omitted. In FIFA 23 you still needed them to retrain a player from his usual position to an alternative position.
In FC 24, items automatically assume their alternative position as soon as you place them accordingly. For example, you can simply move Atletico Madrid’s Marcos Llorente from right midfield to right-back or central midfield without losing chemistry points or having to reshape him.
Women close logic gap
In addition, nothing fundamental has changed in the chemistry system in FUT 24. There is still a maximum of three chemistry points per player, which can be achieved via a minimum number of items from the same league, club or nation. The corresponding limits are also unchanged – as is a supposed gap in the logic of the system.
The threshold values for team points are affected. According to the overview, two players from one club are needed for one chemistry point, four players from the same club bring two chemistry points and the full three points are obtained with seven teammates. Last year, the third limit was in fact superfluous. After all, every item of a club automatically played in the same league. Four cards from a club would therefore have been enough for all three chemistry points.
In FC 24, this gap is now closed by the introduction of women’s teams. This is because the chemistry system differentiates between men’s and women’s leagues. Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas and Pedri therefore give each other a team point, but no league point. If you target a mixed team with men and women from the same club, you therefore actually need seven items from the corresponding club to bring all cards to full chemistry, regardless of their nationality and league.
