Farewell perfect: Brown turns his back on Hamburg Towers

The Hamburg Towers let their forward Zach Brown go after only one year. BBL rival MLP Academics Heidelberg presents another newcomer from the USA.

US-American Zach Brown is moving back to Hungary after only one year with the Basketball-Bundesliga team Hamburg Towers. There he will play for the reigning Hungarian champions and Champions League participants Falco KC Szombathely. The 26-year-old has long been familiar with Hungary’s highest division. Brown had moved to Hamburg from SZTE Szedeak in 2021. The forward played 37 competitive games for the Towers.

Although he was only active for Hamburg for one year, Brown leaves a lasting impression on the Elbe. “Zach is an exemplary professional who always puts the team’s success first,” sporting director Marvin Willoughby is quoted as saying on the Towers website. “I would like to specifically thank him for his efforts last season and wish him the best of luck in Hungary. “

MLP Academics Heidelberg sign US-American De’Jon Davis

De’Jon Davis will be playing for MLP Academics Heidelberg from the coming season. The Heidelberg basketball team announced the signing on Monday. The 23-year-old, who was most recently under contract with the Greek club Apollon Patras, comes to Heidelberg with a lot of advance praise.

The versatility of the Oakland (California)-born Davis in particular could prove to be an advantage, the all-rounder can play both power forward and centre. “De’jon brings energy and physicality to our team. He can play both big positions and is an excellent rebounder,” said Heidelberg’s new coach Joonas Iisalo.

Meanwhile, point guard Robert Lowery has left Heidelberg. The 34-year-old averaged 13.2 points per game last season.
