eFootball 2023 is in the starting blocks: Konami ushers in new season

Shortly after the new seasons of the European top leagues began in real football, eFootball is following suit. Season 1 of “eFootball 2023” will begin in August.

Konami keeps the annual name update: eFootball gets an additional “2023”. The season opener, which is an update and not a new title, is supposed to convince with new licences, among other things.

After it was already clear that the two Milanese clubs AC and Inter have entered into partnerships with Konami, the teams will be integrated into the game with the upcoming update. This also includes Liga BBVA MX, Mexico’s highest division, in which traditional clubs such as Deportivo Guadalajara, the UANL Tigres or Konami partner Club America play.

Derby della Madonnina holds retreat

The integration of the Milan clubs, however, turns out to be somewhat more comprehensive. For the two city rivals from the fashion metropolis will not only be dressed in fine threads during the 90 minutes: “In addition to the authentic jerseys, the players of ‘AC Milan’ and ‘Internazionale Milano’ will also wear eFootball’s own training outfit in the game,” says Konami’s announcement. This detail “certainly adds to the atmosphere. “

But not only clubs are part of the season change. The two new card types “Highlight” and “Epic” should also ensure that eFootball 2023 is a success. “Highlight” cards will reward players “who have performed exceptionally well in the current season and have a higher development limit than players in focus”.

Meanwhile, cards of an “epic” nature are items that celebrate “the defining seasons of old and new greats”. These cards are particularly powerful in that they have “a higher development limit than legendary players.”

Packs for clubs, coaches and ambassadors

Last but not least, there should also be something happening in terms of packs. There will be “Manager Packs” containing training programmes and the new coaches Johan Cruyff and Fabio Cannavaro. In addition, there will be “Club Packs” for the three new partner clubs with 11 player cards of the “Highlight” type.

Furthermore, there are two new ambassadors of the game: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bruno Fernandes, who will be put in the spotlight with “Premium Ambassador Packs”. The first of these packs, for Reds defender Alexander-Arnold, will feature the ambassador himself as an “epic” card, accompanied by 10 LFC team-mates in “highlight” format. A comparable pack for the Portuguese is due in the autumn.

But first, of course, the update to eFootball 2023 is to follow – and promptly. The new season in Konami’s football simulation will be launched on 25 August.
