Eden Hazard Inches Closer to Real Madrid Move

Eden Hazard made his intentions very clear after the World Cup:

“After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different,”

“Certainly after this World Cup. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision – if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination.”

That destination is obviously Real Madrid, and if Florentino Perez wants Hazard in his team, there’s little what Chelsea can do to stop him.

With two years left on his contract, Hazard’s situation is similar to Thibaut Coutrois’. The goalkeeper has one year left on his contract and he has used that factor as leverage to force a move away from Chelsea. The Blues are aware he won’t re-sign, so if they don’t want to lose him for nothing then they have to sell now. Keeping Hazard for one more year will only reduce his price, as he obviously has no intention of extending his stay in England either.

Eden Hazard €190 million transfer fee

Reports from France suggest Eden Hazard’s transfer fee could be as high as €190 million. However, conflicting reports from Italy claim that Real Madrid is willing to pay no more than €125 million. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

If the fee is indeed €190 million, the transfer would become the second most expensive in football history. There’s also the potential this colossal amount of money is for Hazard and Courtois combined, as the Chelsea goalkeeper is set to join Los Blancos for €35 million.

Eden Hazard and Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea’s new manager Maurizio Sarri would like to have the opportunity to at least talk to Hazard in person before the Belgian captain makes his final decision.

“A telephone call without looking them in the eyes would not give me any certainty,”

“I want to meet them face-to-face and talk to them and see what the best thing to do would be for everybody.”

“Before that I would also like a player to come on the pitch with me for four or five days to get a clear idea of what the picture is.”

By the looks of it, Sarri might not get what he wants.

Eden Hazard in Real Madrid

Real Madrid always gets what they want. The club’s nickname is Los Galacticos for a reason. Almost every player who reaches superstar status sees the Madrid club as the ultimate destination. Eden Hazard is ripe for an upgrade. He has nothing left to prove at Chelsea, so the timing is perfect. If he were to join, Hazard would take Cristiano Ronaldo’s spot in Real Madrid’s starting lineup and if anyone is capable of coping with that type of pressure, it’s him.
