On Monday EA SPORTS shared info about the upcoming FIFA 23 eSport season. Part of the announcement was also a new team competition.
According to the publisher, the new EA SPORTS Cup will feature “the best of the best”. However, the company does not mean individual players like world champion Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin, but eSports teams.
FeCWC winners and two German representatives in it
Derer 20 has EA SPORTS accumulated for the first edition of the newly created competition. The two best teams are to be determined in four groups in first and second legs, which will then play out the semi-finals and final in a single elimination. The developer has not yet announced the form of the game.
The winner will be rewarded with the majority of the total prize money of 250,000 US dollars. In addition, the two finalists automatically qualify for the FIFAe Club World Cup, which was won this year by Team Riders.
The defending champions, who are just as much a part of the field of participants as well-known international organisations like FNATIC, FUTWIZ or David Beckham’s financially struggling eSports organisation Guild Esports, will also have competition from Germany. With FOKUS and RBLZ Gaming, two local teams are taking part in the first edition of the EA SPORTS Cup.
The new competition will kick off on 17 October. Over a period of three months, regular matches in London will decide on the awarding of prize money and FeCWC places.
