The transfer of Krzysztof Piatek to Hertha BSC was associated with high hopes, but these were not fulfilled. Now the Polish international striker’s time in Berlin could come to an early end.
Two years ago, Krzysztof Piatek came to Hertha BSC from AC Milan with high hopes. In January 2020, the Berliners paid 23 million euros for the Polish centre-forward, who was considered to be a future international goal-scorer.
However, Piatek has not been able to leave a lasting mark on Hertha since his signing. The 1.83 metre tall, 77 kilo penalty area striker has played a total of 56 Bundesliga games for the capital club, in which he has scored twelve goals.
He also played two games in the DFB Cup (one goal). Piatek also failed to make the leap to a regular player in the current season; however, this was also due to the fact that he missed the preparation and the start of the season due to a broken ankle suffered in the spring.
So far this season, the attacker, whose qualities in the penalty area and finishing are undisputed, but who is also considered phlegmatic, has made ten competitive appearances (four starts, one goal one assist).
Return to Italy?
Now the Polish international striker’s time (21 appearances so far) in Berlin could soon come to an end. Hertha would give the attacker away if the right offer was made, and there are interested parties for the 26-year-old.
