Left-back Quilindschy Hartman has been ruled out of this summer’s European Championship. The Dutchman suffered a serious knee injury in the league game
In the match between Feyenoord Rotterdam and FC Utrecht (final score 4:2), it was the 30th minute when Quilindschy Hartman pulled Niklas Vesterlund, who had broken through, off his feet in the penalty area. In addition to the penalty whistle, which led to ex-Frankfurt player Sam Lammers making the score 0:2, Feyenoord’s left-back had to be substituted injured.
It is now clear that the injury was not a minor one. Hartman’s club announced late on Sunday evening that the 22-year-old had suffered a serious knee injury. The Eredivisie runners-up did not specify the diagnosis, but announced that Hartman is facing a lengthy recovery process and that his season is over.
Aké and Blind could move to the left
This means that the European Championship in Germany starting on June 14 will not be possible for the four-time Dutch international. Hartman had already missed the two most recent tests against Scotland (4:0) and the DFB team (1:2) due to another minor injury. Prior to that, he had been in the Oranje starting eleven four times in a row in the fall.
Bonds coach Ronald Koeman’s first options at left-back are now likely to be the two skilled central defenders Nathan Aké and Daley Blind. Finally, Matthijs de Ligt and Virgil van Dijk are also available at center back
