“Destination: Berlin!”: FC 24 World Championship also takes place in Germany

Germany is set to host two major EAFC events this summer. After the virtual European Championship, the FC Pro World Championship will also be held here

For a long time, the exact venue was a mystery, but now it’s clear: the FC Pro World Championship, the first virtual soccer world championship from EA SPORTS after the separation from FIFA, will take place in Berlin. From July 10 to 13, the 32 best FC 24 players in the world will compete for the title and a total prize pool of one million US dollars. It is also clear that there will be no successor to the Club and Nations World Cup for the time being.

Back in March, it was leaked and then officially confirmed that this year’s edition of the virtual World Cup would not take place in Saudi Arabia again, but would instead be held in Europe. While it was initially left open as to what exactly this meant, EA SPORTS announced on Thursday evening that the FC crown would be awarded in the German capital, more precisely at the Uber Eats Music Hall.

Germany presents two title hopefuls

Near the banks of the Spree, some local heroes will also be reaching for the stars. In particular, Paderborn’s Jonas Wirth and Leipzig’s Levy Finn Rieck will be involved. The two recently fought a title-deciding duel in the eChampions League final, which ultimately went to Wirth. The SCP pro thus secured his third major title of the season after the VBL Club Championship and the individual championship – both won against Leipzig and Rieck respectively. The shooting star is accordingly favored going into the final round

The two Germans will also be joined by Anders Vejrgang, who is part of the RBLZ VBL squad along with Rieck. The Dane, who was defeated by his teammate in the championship race, had secured his ticket to the FC Pro Open. He was dramatically defeated by Brazilian Paulo Chaves, better known as ‘PHzin’, in the final of the newly created competition, but had already been a certainty in the field of participants for the World Championship finals thanks to his semi-final appearance

RBLZ trio represented at World Cup and European Championships

Vejrgang could meet teammates twice on the international stage this summer. In addition to the World Cup in FC 24, there will also be a virtual European Championship in the soccer simulation this year. Similar to real sport, the final round of the eEuro 2024 will also take place in Germany – and Denmark will be represented, as will the host country Germany, for whom Umut Gültekin, the third RBLZ player, will be competing.

However, Vejrgang and Gültekin will not be competing together on the international stage for the time being. The FIFAe Club World Cup, which the RBLZ duo won in 2023, does not appear to have a successor, nor does the FIFAe Nations Cup. At least this is not clear from the EA SPORTS announcement, which only explicitly mentions the individual World Cup.
