Eric Reibe put in a good performance at the traditional Nike Hoop Summit, but Team World lost to the best high school players in the USA after extra time in Portland.
124:114 was the final score in favor of the “hosts, who were led by the potential top pick for 2026, A.J. Dybantsa (24 points, 7/13 FG, 6 rebounds, 5 assists). Darius Acuff Jr. scored the same amount, while Cameron Boozer contributed 22 points, 16 rebounds and six assists to the win.
German big man Eric Reibe started at center for Team World and put in an impressive performance with 11 points (5/7 FG) and eight rebounds in 25 minutes. The junior international scored with a number of slam-dunks and was also able to score after offensive rebounds. Tounde Yessoufou, who, like Reibe, attended high school in the USA, scored the most points for Benin.
Reibe will play for UConn next season, but last year the 18-year-old spent another year in high school. In Germany, the center spent three years with the youth team at ratiopharm Ulm, among other clubs, but was absent last summer when the German U18 national team won gold.
The German is considered a great talent, ESPN lists Reibe as the 22nd in his high school class and the second-best center. Dirk Nowitzki, Dennis Schröder, Isaiah Hartenstein and Kostja Mushidi, among others, have been invited to the traditional game in the past.
