Betfair slashed their odds for Cristiano Ronaldo joining Juventus at 41 to 4 recently, meaning a deal with the Turin side is getting closer to reality. Manchester United is the only other team mentioned in context with the Portuguese. The Red Devils are still seen as the favourites to sign the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Their odds are set at 3.75, while the odds of him leaving Real Madrid have been cut down to a mere 1.33.
Ronaldo alla Juve (Ronaldo to Juventus)
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Ronaldo is set to join Italian champions, Juventus with a €30 million per year deal. Corriere dello sport wrote an article entitled “Ronaldo, zebra fever”, implying that temperature in Turin is rising after news broke out that the Real Madrid superstar was given a green light to enter into negotiations with the “Old Lady”. In the meantime, Sportmediaset mentions the whole tax ordeal as the main reason behind Ronaldo’s desire to leave Spain and compares it to Neymar’s situation. The Brazilian was involved in a disagreement with authorities over tax evasion, something which affected him psychologically throughout his Barcelona stay.
Cristiano Ronaldo transfer
Ronaldo’s release clause is set at €1 billion, but his wish to leave Spain’s capital has forced Real’s hand. Florentino Perez is supposedly ready to accept a transfer fee of only €100 million. Even though people at Juve are confident Ronaldo will join their team, they also wary of agent Jorge Mendes pumping up the deal in order to kick off an auction war between Cristiano’s other admirers Manchester United and PSG.
Real Madrid’s all-time leading goal scorer would be leaving the club after nine trophy-laden years in which he won the LaLiga twice and the Champions League four times, including the last three. Signing Ronaldo would be a coup for Juventus, who have dominated Italy, but haven’t been able to transfer that success onto the Champions League stage. With him in the squad, Juve becomes the early favourite to win Europe’s most prestigious competition next season.
