Catalonia relaxes: Clasico at Camp Nou in front of full house

Good news for FC Barcelona: The authorities in Catalonia relaxed the Corona regulations on Tuesday, so the approaching Clasico can also go over in front of 99,000 fans.

“We are finally returning to 100 per cent capacity after a year and a half,” said Catalan regional president Pere Aragones. A capacity of 60 per cent was last allowed in Europe’s biggest stadium.

The cash-strapped FC Barcelona can therefore expect higher income from ticket sales again. The timing is just right, because Barça has three home games within a week: Next Sunday against Valencia, on 20 October against Kiev in the Champions League – and on 24 October Real Madrid will be welcomed for the Clasico.

Next summer, the move is on the agenda, as the Camp Nou is to be rebuilt. After that, the stadium will even hold 110,000 spectators.
