Bridges must pay for mouthguard throw – Curry announces comeback

Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets must dig deep into his pocket for his outburst of rage in Atlanta. Steph Curry, meanwhile, has announced his comeback.

Bridges was fined $50,000 by the league after missing the playoffs. It’s the largest individual fine the NBA has levied against a player for an offence this season.

The Hornets star had thrown his mouthguard in the direction of a spectator in frustration during Wednesday’s 103-132 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, hitting a young woman. The 24-year-old power forward had been sent off for two technical fouls. Bridges had called his actions “unacceptable” after the game and asked that someone “put him in touch with the young lady. “

Beverley’s inappropriate comments

For multiple infractions, Patrick Beverley of the Minnesota Timberwolves is coming up on an even bigger fine overall this week. The 33-year-old guard must pay $30,000 for “inappropriate comments,” including the “egregious use of profanity,” following the Timberwolves’ playoff berth Tuesday against his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers. Beverley had already been fined $25,000 just two days earlier for disorderly conduct against a referee in the final regular season game against the Chicago Bulls.

Curry wants to be ready

Meanwhile, superstar Stephen Curry is set to make his comeback just in time for the start of the play-offs. The Golden State Warriors point guard is “very optimistic” and announced a return from his left foot injury for Sunday’s championship round opener against the Denver Nuggets.

“The goal was always to be ready for the first game, it still is,” Curry, who hasn’t played in nearly a month, said in a podcast hosted by teammate Draymond Green. The Warriors, champions in 2015, 2017 and 2018, had missed the playoffs twice recently.

“I’m very excited because I know how much I like this atmosphere. I don’t want to miss anything,” the 34-year-old Curry said. The Warriors finished the regular season in third place in the Western Conference behind the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies.
