German heavyweight boxer Agit Kabayel can imagine fighting Wladimir Klitschko. The ex-champ had previously hinted that he could consider a comeback.
Agit Kabayel, currently Germany’s biggest heavyweight hope, has challenged former world champion Wladimir Klitschko.
Klitschko had only recently hinted in an interview with Bild that he could imagine returning to the ring once more.
“I have also learned that despite the war, you must not forget life,” the 46-year-old said, referring to Russian invasion of his Ukrainian homeland.
“Sport is part of my life. I’m happy that Tyson Fury won. Who knows, I don’t want to promise anything big here, but if I’m in good shape and especially also if the war in Ukraine comes to an end soon and our borders exist, without any invasion coming from Russia, then in the end: who knows?”
Klitschko continued, “If I am in good shape, who knows, maybe I will have this dream to break George Foreman’s record. That motivates me to get up every day and do sports. Everyone has their own motivation. “
Now Agit Kabayel reacted to the statements of the former world class boxer at Bild: “When I heard about it, I thought that this would be very interesting for boxing in general, but especially in Germany. But age already plays an important role.”
Should Klitschko actually decide to make a comeback, the 29-year-old would be open to a duel in the ring: “If he wants to do it, here I am. I would be the perfect opponent if he wants to make a comeback in Germany. That would revive boxing here. “
