The Bundesliga is currently taking a break, so the goal scorers active in Germany were unable to score in the Golden Shoe Ranking. Karim Benzema was the most successful at the top of this ranking.
At the turn of the year, the hunt for the Golden Shoe also features a number of players from leagues that are played in the calendar year and have accordingly already completed their season. Ohi Omoijuanfo (Molde) has 27 goals as well as 40.5 points to his credit. Thomas Lehne Olsen (Lilleström) has 26 goals and 39 points. However, both will not be able to improve their record, so that they will lose their positions at the top in the new year.
The first hunter is still Robert Lewandowski, even though the FC Bayern attacker was unable to add to his haul last week – the Bundesliga is on break, Lewandowski accordingly remains on 19 goals and thus 38 points.
Benzema now seventh
Karim Benzema moved further ahead in the top ten. The Frenchman scored twice in Real Madrid’s make-up game at Athletic Bilbao to secure a 2-1 away win for the Royals. Benzema is now the top scorer in Spanish La Liga with 15 goals and has moved up to seventh in the Golden Shoe rankings, level with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Apart from Lewandowski, only Patrik Schick (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) and Dusan Vlahovic (AC Florence) are ranked ahead of Benzema in the European top leagues with 16 goals and 32 points each.
