Bellingham opens the scoring: Real stay in the flow

Real Madrid have also won their ninth league game in a row. In the 5-0 win over Deportivo Alaves, the Whites set the course for victory in the first half

At the weekend, Carlo Ancelotti gave almost his entire starting line-up a break in the 4-0 win at Granada – and the reserves immediately started promoting themselves. On Tuesday, a very large proportion of the regular squad were allowed back into action. No wonder, given that the Whites also need to stay in the flow for the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1. And that’s exactly what they did against Alaves.

Bellingham put the Whites ahead as early as the tenth minute: the Englishman lifted the ball into the far corner with the inside of his boot. Was that intentional or was it more of a pass to Carvajal? The hosts didn’t care, as it was 1-0. The champions had everything under control and then increased the lead through Vinicius Junior, who only had to keep his foot out after a sharp pass from Camavinga (27′).

It was a one-sided game in which the Blancos even added the third goal before the break. Fede Valverde took a powerful shot from the right side of the penalty area, Alaves keeper Owono was still there but could not prevent the goal (45.+1).

Vinicius Junior scores the brace – Arda Güler scores

The game was already decided after 45 minutes. Real took it a little easier after the break, but the hosts continued to control the game. Alaves also had a few chances, the best of which fell to Hagi, whose shot was saved sensationally by Courtois (57′). However, the Blancos were also repeatedly on the offensive, as in the 70th minute when Vinicius Junior scored a brace after a pass from Bellingham

The final goal was scored by Arda Güler, who made it 5:0 with his fourth goal of the season (81′). Real thus celebrated their ninth league win in a row. The Whites continue their campaign on Sunday with a visit to Villarreal. A week later, they face Real Betis at home before taking on BVB at Wembley on June 1 for the trophy
