On Sunday afternoon, 1. FC Union Berlin trained for the second time this year. Three players took part in the preparation for the second half of the season for the first time.
The attackers Kevin Behrens and Max Kruse as well as new defensive signing Dominique Heintz from SC Freiburg took part in training. With the club’s permission, the trio had still been absent on the first day of training on New Year’s Day.
The session was divided into two parts. At the beginning, rehearsals took place on the training ground next to the stadium An der Alten Försterei. Later, the move to the main stadium took place. Coach Urs Fischer does this more often during match practice because the training grounds lack a few metres in width.
On Monday, the Berliners will train twice. After the training-free Tuesday, the sharp preparation for the first championship match on Saturday (3.30 pm) at Bayer Leverkusen begins.
