The paths of record champions Bayern Munich and Michael Cuisance (22) are parting ways for good, it has now been confirmed.
ZSKA Moscow and FC Venice recently showed increased interest in signing the midfielder, who still cost Bayern a transfer fee of ten million euros in 2019. Now it is certain that Cuisance will continue his career in Serie A. The Frenchman could make his debut for Venice, who are currently in 16th place with 17 points from 19 games, on 6 January. Then the immensely important away game awaits at fellow promoted and last-place Salernitana with ex-Munich player Franck Ribery.
“We would like to thank Michael Cuisance for his commitment to FC Bayern and wish him all the best and much success for his future with FC Venice,” read a short statement from Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
Cuisance had moved to the Bundesliga from Nancy in the summer of 2017, making 39 competitive appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the two years that followed. In the summer of 2019, the left-footer decided to take up the challenge in Munich. In over a year, Cuisance only made eleven appearances (one goal), which is why he went on loan to Marseille (29 appearances, two goals). Since his return to Munich in the summer, Cuisance has only made two appearances (one goal in the DFB Cup).
In order to continue his once rapid development, Cuisance needs match practice, which he hopes to get in Venice. His new contract runs until 30 June 2025.
