Nine-time German champions Bamberg have given young player Adrian Petkovic (18) a three-year contract.
The Upper Franconians, who have recently changed their name from Brose Bamberg to Bamberg Baskets, announced on Friday that Petkovic will initially train with their cooperation partner BBC Coburg in the lower-ranked ProB.
However, Petkovic will at least be close to Bamberg’s first division players in pre-season training with the two other young hopefuls Nico Höllerl and David Gerhard (both 19).
First home game not until the end of October
The Baskets start the new season on 28 September (6.30 pm) with an away game at BBL returnee Rasta Vechta. Four days before that, the first BBL Cup hurdle, Artland Dragons (ProA), is also on the road (24.9.). The first home game will be on 27 October against the EWE Baskets Oldenburg after four guest games in a row.
