Positive doping samples are rather rare in football. But now José Luis Palomino of Atalanta Bergamo has been caught.
Palomino has tested positive for an anabolic steroid and has been provisionally suspended by his club Atalanta Bergamo. This was announced by the Italian anti-doping authority on Tuesday. According to the statement, a “sample taken” had detected the substance Clostebol in the 32-year-old Argentinian.
Clostebol is abused, among other things, in bodybuilding for stronger muscle build-up. Palomino has been playing for Atalanta since 2017. The club’s medical department will submit a list of all substances the player has taken.
