The first change on Arsenal’s board of directors took place this summer: Richard Garlick took over the position of Managing Director. This freed up Garlick’s former position as Managing Director of Sports. A successor has now been found for this position.
After 14 years at the club, Vinai Venkatesham, who took over as CEO of Arsenal FC three years ago, left the Gunners at his own request in the summer. The club had already announced his successor early on: Richard Garlick was promoted from the position of Managing Director Sport to Managing Director (Managing Director).
King has an Arsenal past
Now, The Athletic reports that the Gunners have found a successor for the vacant position of managing director of sports. James King is to fill this role in the future. At Arsenal, the managing director of sports is responsible, among other things, for providing support in legal and contractual matters.
King had previously worked for Arsenal from 2016 before moving to the legal department of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) in May 2022. It is not yet known when exactly he will take up his new post. Talks between him and the north Londoners are said to have been ongoing since the summer.
