Angry Real Madrid calls UEFA actions around draw ‘Shameful’

Real Madrid is not happy with the way European football association UEFA has acted. The Royal does not hide its displeasure in a statement on its official website.

The draw for the eighth finals of the billion-dollar ball would be made on Monday afternoon at noon. That happened, but the draw had to be redrawn due to an error. These came to light when Manchester United were linked to Villarreal. Something that was not possible, because the two clubs had already met in the group stage. UEFA decided after the draw that the entire draw had to be restarted at 3 p.m.

And that was against Real Madrid’s sore leg, who had seen Benfica roll out of the box as an upcoming opponent. However, that match was already fixed before it went wrong. However, UEFA refused to allow that part of the draw and later linked Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain. Emilio Butragueño, director of institutional relations of the La Liga leader, explains on the club site why Real is not happy with UEFA’s decision.

“First of all I would like to say that it is remarkable, shameful and incomprehensible what has happened today,” the statement begins. “Millions of fans around the world have followed the draw and received it.” The Spanish superpower nevertheless wants to focus on meeting PSG. ‘We are looking forward to the diptych with great enthusiasm, we know what this tournament means for our club and our fans. We are going up against a tough opponent with good players, but we are sure that the team will start twice with a lot of confidence. It’s going to be a spectacle.’
