Alex Ferguson’s Emotional Message After Recovering from Brain Surgery

Sir Alex Ferguson is a name that commands utmost respect even from those outside of the sporting industry. His contribution to football is undoubted but he is a character that has gained praise and recognition from other industries, as his managerial style and personality has been analysed for years in an attempt to replicate management success.

Ferguson became a managerial legend across the world at United

The Scotsman developed a reputation for being a strong character both at Aberdeen and then at Manchester United. He masterminded a golden era that saw United become a dominant force both in England and across Europe. In 26 years at United, he amassed 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups and 2 UEFA Champions League titles – he certainly earned his status as a legend of the game. He was knighted in 1999 in recognition of his outstanding achievements before finally retiring in 2013.

Shock as Ferguson rushed to hospital after brain haemorrhage

The football world was left shocked on 5 May when news broke that Ferguson had been rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery following a brain haemorrhage. The legend now had the biggest fight of his life, as surgeons battled to save him. Messages of support came from around the world, with former players and managers joining fans in wishing Fergie a speedy recovery.

In true Ferguson spirit, the 76-year old made it through and has gone on to recover well from his surgery. Ferguson is a man who has never been shy to support his left-wing political beliefs and it is typical of him to release a message that thanks the NHS staff for their help and also thanks the well-wishers for their supportive messages.

In a video that was uploaded onto Twitter, Sir Alex sent the following message:

“I’d like to thank the medical staff at Macclesfield, Salford Royal and Alexander Hospitals, believe me without those people who gave me such great care I would not be sitting here today.”

“Thank you from me and my family, thank you very much.”

“It has made me feel so humble, as has all the messages I have had from all over the world wishing me the best.

“The good wishes do resonate very strongly with me. So thank you for that support.

“Lastly, I’ll be back later in the season to watch the team. In the meantime all the best to Jose and the players.

“Thank you very much.”

We can’t wait to see you back in the stands cheering the Red Devils on Sir Alex!
