Brian Brobbey first joined RB Leipzig from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer, but now the attacker is pulling up stakes in Saxony again for the time being and returning to his home club on loan. The two clubs made the announcement on Friday lunchtime.
Brobbey moved from Amsterdam to Leipzig in the summer with great ambitions – but his record after half a year reads modest: The 19-year-old played just 250 minutes in all three competitions and failed to score a goal. Now Brobbey is to gain more playing experience at Ajax and, if possible, boost his self-confidence by scoring goals.
Brobbey joined the famous youth academy of Ajax Amsterdam as a child. He trained between 2010 and 2019 before making his debut in the men’s game at Ajax II. A season later, he also featured for the Dutch giants in the Eredivisie. Brobbey came through all of the Dutch youth teams and most recently played for the U21s.
