ADAC GT Masters Oschersleben 2024: Schumacher celebrates first pole position

David Schumacher takes his first pole position in the ADAC GT Masters and starts Sunday’s race from the front of the grid – AMG occupies front row

With a wafer-thin lead of 0.031 seconds on second place, David Schumacher (Salzburg) celebrated his first pole position in the ADAC GT Masters

“A great result, of course I want to follow it up with my first win. There are still two Mercedes-AMG GT3s behind me, so it couldn’t have gone better,” said the satisfied pole-sitter after the second ADAC GT Masters qualifying session in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

The Mercedes-AMG driver, who drives for the Haupt Racing Team together with Salman Owega, won the intra-brand duel with Tom Kalender from Landgraf Motorsport on Sunday. Finn Wiebelhaus completed the one-two-three for Mercedes-AMG in third place.

The hunt for the second pole position also began on Sunday under a bright blue sky and temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius. Initially, the two BMW M4 GT3s from FK Performance set the first times.

As the race progressed, the track became more crowded and the battle for the top positions entered the hot phase. At the end of the 20-minute qualifying session, qualifying debutant Schumacher put his Mercedes-AMG GT3 on pole position with a time of 1:22.868 minutes ahead of fellow Mercedes drivers Kalender and Wiebelhaus.

Fourth place went to Chilean Benjamin Hites in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 of the Grasser Racing Team. Jean-Luc D’Auria completed the top five in the Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3.
