Bitter news for Borussia Mönchengladbach around the cup fairy tale against FC Bayern: Louis Jordan Beyer will probably be absent for a longer period of time.
Shortly after half-time of Gladbach’s cup magic against the record cup winners from Munich it happened. The Bavarians tried something like a comeback after the 0:3 at the break, Serge Gnabry chased a ball conceivably just over the Borussia goal in the 50th minute, defender Beyer tried to block the finish with a straddle – and then stayed down.
In return, Gladbach scored the 4:0 through Breel Embolo – and that in a shorthanded situation, because Beyer had to be treated and finally substituted for Luca Netz in the 54th minute.
After the game, Gladbach coach Adi Hütter indicated that he would probably have to do without Beyer in the medium term. “It will be a muscle injury,” said the Austrian coach, who, however, did not want to give a water status report on the concrete duration of the absence. At least he said: “He will certainly be out for a longer period of time.
