“A day to forget”: SVWW bungle on Kauczinski debut

SV Waldhof Mannheim solved their Landespokal task with ease on Wednesday. Markus Kauczinski’s debut at SV Wehen Wiesbaden was a completely different story.

Denkbar bad debut for Markus Kauczinski on the bench of SV Wehen Wiesbaden: The new coach of the Hessians conceded with his professionals at Hessenligist Türk Gücü Friedberg a 0:1 (0:1) in the 3rd round of the state cup. Noah Michel (44th) scored the only goal in the match, after which the SVWW had no answer – despite numerous chances.

“The team gave everything, but we didn’t always make the right decisions. In the end, it was a day to forget for us,” Kauczinski summed up on the club website of the state capital.

SV Waldhof won 3:1 against FC Zuzenhausen in the Baden State Cup on Wednesday evening. Fridolin Wagner (30th), Joseph Boyamba (64th) and Marcel Costly (86th) scored the goals for the third division team in front of 1250 spectators. Norman Refior was able to score for the outsiders in the final phase after a slip by Jesper Verlaat.

“It was a commanding performance from us, maybe we should have won a little higher, but it was a great event with a lot of spectators,” Waldhof coach Patrick Glöckner was quoted as saying in the “RNZ”. The win puts the Mannheim side in the semi-finals of the Baden Cup.

FCS passes at Oberliga side Jägersburg

The 1st FC Saarbrücken made amends after the two derby defeats in the 3rd division against Waldhof and Kaiserslautern. Coach Uwe Koschinat fielded his first team at Oberliga side FSV Jägersburg, which took the lead after 22 minutes through Marius Köhl. Sebastian Jacob (28th) and Tobias Jänicke (42nd) scored by the break. Julian Günther-Schmidt (54th) made the final score 4:0. FCS are now through to the quarter-finals of the Saarland State Cup.

Saglik treble for Verl

SC Verl, Saarbrücken’s next opponents in the league, won 6:0 at fifth division side Ennepetal. Emanuel Mirchev and Patrick Schikowski set the course early on, Mahir Saglik added a goal from the spot after 20 minutes and shortly before the break – 4:0. Luca Stellwagen and Saglik scored again in the second half. SCV are now through to the semi-finals of the Westphalian State Cup.
