90.+8! Pedro delivers the next blow to Milan

Milan is currently only a mediocre Serie A team. In the home game against Lazio, the Rossoneri lose in the very last minute of injury, thus losing their third consecutive league game 1-2. The downturn continues.

AC Milan’s sporting crisis continues to worsen, although around the turn of the year things looked set for improvement with the installation of coach Sergio Conceicao (“We will achieve great things”) (as evidenced by the Supercoppa win).

After the latest two 1-2 defeats at FC Turin and at FC Bologna, this time not only did they suffer the next 1-2 defeat in the clash with Lazio Rome, but also received boos from their own fans at half-time, after the final whistle and in the middle of a completely unnecessary red card for defender Pavlovic. All of this fits into the current dramatic sporting picture of AC.

While the Rossoneri slipped further into the gray Serie A mediocrity, the guests from Rome celebrated an important three-pointer in the fight for Champions League qualification at the second Milan guest appearance within a few days. After the 2-0 defeat in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at Inter, the first thanks went to captain Zaccagni, who, after Marusic’s shot and Maignan’s save in the 28th minute, was lying in wait and scored from close range to make it 1-0.

Milan weaken themselves, come back and still go down to defeat

More goals would have been possible for the clearly more agile and offensively more imaginative capital city. But they didn’t close the lid, which should even take revenge in the meantime with an own advantage – Milan professional Pavlovic saw the red card in minute 67 after a completely exaggerated sliding tackle against Isaksen – even revenge.

Out of nowhere, the partially listless and in any case uninspiring Milan side equalized through a cross from Rafael Leao and a header from substitute Samu Chukwueze (84). But in the final minutes of stoppage time, Isaksen went around Maignan at full speed – and went down after a clear contact (90.+4). After studying the VAR, referee Gianluca Manganiello also pointed to the spot, from which the brought-in penalty took responsibility. And the 37-year-old Spanish World and European champion kept his cool (90.+8).

Thus, the Romans were able to celebrate an important three, while the home Lombards once again bowed their heads to the whistles of their own fans. Milan’s next game is an away game in Lecce (Saturday, 6 p.m.). Lazio will first be guests in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 at Viktoria Pilsen (Thursday, 9 p.m.).
