275,000 euros for former Frankfurt player Dadashov

Renat Dadashov was once considered a great talent in Germany, but he never made his breakthrough in the Bundesliga. Nevertheless, he recently celebrated a legal victory against his former club Hatayspor.

The Süper Lig 18th must pay the 25-year-old 275,000 euros plus interest. This is according to a ruling by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber. Dadashov was loaned by his then main club, Grasshopper Club Zurich, to Hatayspor from September 2023 until the end of the 2023/24 season.

In Turkey, he was to earn ten monthly salaries of €55,000, and a house was to be provided for him. While things went reasonably well in terms of sport, the club’s payments apparently failed to materialize. On May 3, 2024, the attacker complained about unpaid wages of €165,000 and a missing rent allowance of around €6,000, giving Hatayspor a 15-day deadline to pay up. On June 4, 2024, Dadashov then terminated his contract for cause due to the failure to pay, and a month later he sued the club at FIFA for €277,333.

In addition to outstanding salaries and compensation, he also demanded that Hatayspor pay his rent. However, the FIFA judges took a different view on the latter point because the contract only stated that the club had to provide him with a house. Dadashov, who had been under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig as a youth but had fallen out with both clubs, had apparently preferred to rent rather than buy a property. However, according to the FIFA ruling, the club does not have to pay him this.

Curious: Hatayspor provides unofficial table as evidence

The situation is different for the outstanding salaries and compensation, which FIFA judges ordered Hatayspor to pay here 275,000 euros plus interest. Curiously, the club, which was facing relegation, claimed that it had paid the salaries and produced as alleged evidence “an alleged financial statement of the payments, which was apparently an internal (and unofficial) table that had not even been translated into one of the official FIFA languages,” the judgment stated. Accordingly, it was not accepted as evidence.

The fact that this was not the first time that Hatayspor had been found to have similar problems proved to be a problem for the club, and the world governing body set a short deadline for payment. This was apparently not met. As a result, a ban on registration has been in force against the club for two transfer periods since January 13, 2025. Recently, there have been media reports that the money has already been paid.

So it may only be a matter of time before the ban is lifted. Dadashov, who was predicted to have a great future not least because of his strong performances in several DFB youth teams and who now plays for Azerbaijan’s senior national team, is currently under contract with Polish first division club Radomiak Radom.
