Thanks to this success, Tsitsipas will return to the top ten of the world rankings on Monday.
The Greek tennis pro Stefanos Tsitsipas (26) has overcome his curse of reaching the final at the 500th ATP tournament at the twelfth attempt.
The world number 11 beat Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-3 in the final of Dubai to claim his 12th ATP-level tournament victory. The win will see Tsitsipas return to the top ten on Monday.
For the two-time major finalist, it was his first triumph at a 500-level tournament. He had previously lost 11 times in tournaments of the third-highest category after the Grand Slams and the Masters – including twice in Dubai (2019 and 2020).
After a disappointing start to the year, Tsitsipas picked up momentum for the prestigious Masters in Indian Wells (March 5-16), where he has never advanced past the quarterfinals.
