Indian Wells – Alexander Zverev has reached the next round in doubles at the ATP Masters in Indian Wells a day after his early exit in the singles
With Kazakh Andrei Golubev, the 24-year-old from Hamburg won 7-6 (7-0) and 6-3 against Marcelo Arevalo from Honduras and Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer. In the next round, Germany’s tennis star and his partner will face the US duo of Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.
Zverev does not have good memories of either player. Paul defeated him in three sets in the second round on Monday and Fritz won his quarter-final match against Zverev last year.
Rafael Nadal continued his impressive winning streak this year. The 35-year-old Spaniard won 7:5 and 6:3 in the third round against Britain’s Daniel Evans. Nadal remained unbeaten in his 17th match of the year. He also celebrated his 400th win at a Masters tournament – more than any other player before him. Nadal’s next opponent is the US-American Reilly Opelka, who defeated Denis Shapovalov from Israel 6:7(4:7), 6:4 and 6:4.
