Zverev surprisingly fails in quarter-final

After his freak-out in Acapulco at the end of February, Alexander Zverev is on the road to rehabilitation – and wants to make headlines again. He has now suffered another defeat in Miami.

Alexander Zverev has failed in the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters in Miami. The 24-year-old German number one lost to Norwegian Casper Ruud 3:6, 6:1, 3:6 and thus missed a great opportunity. Francisco Cerundolo from Argentina, ranked 103rd in the world, would have been waiting in the semi-finals. But Zverev did not reach his best form against Ruud.

The world number four thus missed the chance to get himself back into the race for the world number one ranking with a triumph in Miami before the start of the clay court season. So far this year, Zverev has only reached the final of a tournament in February in Montpellier. Most recently, the German top player failed in his first match at the prestigious Masters in Indian Wells.
