WWE unveils prominent newcomer

AEW veteran Penta – formerly Penta El Zero Miedo – makes his WWE debut on RAW. In addition, the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion will be revealed.

It has been an open secret for some time, but now it is official: Mexican wrestling star Penta made his debut on the WWE show Monday Night RAW.

The former Penta El Zero Miedo from competitor AEW defeated Chad Gable with his finisher, the Penta Driver, in his first match for the market leader. Afterwards, in a short promo speech, he formulated the claim to usher in a “new era” at WWE.

Penta’s move from AEW to WWE complete

The 39-year-old Penta had recently allowed his AEW contract to expire. Penta and his younger brother Rey Fenix have also been active in the US scene for many years and have been associated with AEW since the league was founded in 2019.

Their feud against the Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson), two of the league’s founders, was one of AEW’s first central programs – the spectacular ladder and cage matches between the two duos were among the best matches in the young league’s history.

In the fall and winter of 2022/23, Fenix and Penta, along with their British ally Pac (now part of Jon Moxley’s Death Riders), were at the center of another important rivalry: the Death Triangle established the then-newly introduced Trios Titles in a major match series against the then-incarnation of The Elite (Young Bucks and Kenny Omega). The Death Triangle also had another major feud with the newly disbanded House of Black, whose leader Malakai Black also appears to be on his way to WWE.

As early as the beginning of August, there were consistent media reports that Penta and his younger brother Rey Fenix would now let their AEW contracts expire and were likely targeting a move to WWE. In the case of Fenix, however, AEW exercised the clause to extend the contract for the period during which he was unavailable to the league due to injury – which amounts to around ten months. Fenix has expressed deep frustration about this via social media – and hinted that he would talk about the “injustices” he has suffered at AEW after his contract ends.

Lyra Valkyria wins new title

Another major development at RAW: shooting star Lyra Valkyria was crowned the first holder of the newly introduced title in the final of the tournament for the Women’s Intercontinental Title. She defeated veteran Dakota Kai with her special move Nightwing.

More news that WWE announced on the second RAW on Netflix: The Wyatt Sicks group around “Uncle Howdy” Bo Dallas (brother of the tragically deceased Bray Wyatt), which has been missing from the scene for a few weeks, is moving to Friday’s SmackDown show, while former WWE Champions Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre announced their participation in the Royal Rumble in the opening segment of the show.

In the main event of the show, the feud between former partners Damian Priest and Finn Balor culminated in a street fight that Priest won, giving him a tailwind ahead of the Road to WrestleMania.
