WWE TOP STAR LETS CONTRACT EXPIRE

Becky Lynch surprisingly breaks away from WWE and allegedly wants to take a longer break. What’s behind this?

Becky Lynch is a master of the social media game – as anyone who has followed her WWE career in recent years knows.

One powerful photo, three words: that’s all she needed to set off a hurricane in the wrestling fan community on Tuesday night: After losing her match against Women’s Champion Liv Morgan on the TV show Monday Night RAW, the former title holder posted a photo as she left the arena – and raised the question of what her next move would be with the announcement “To be continued. “

As it later turned out, there was more to the move than just an everyday storyline maneuver: According to consistent media reports, the pioneer of WWE women’s wrestling has surprisingly let her contract expire – and will reportedly leave WWE behind for a long time.

BECKY LYNCH: “WON’T BE BACK ANYTIME SOON “

Lynch, who made history in 2019 by winning the inaugural WrestleMania women’s main event against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair, will take a ring hiatus of unspecified duration, according to Wrestling Observer. “I’ve been told she won’t be back very soon. It’s about a long time off,” Observer chief Dave Meltzer reported on his audio podcast.

Such time off is not unusual in WWE per se, especially bigger and deserving stars are granted it regularly. What is remarkable, however, is that Lynch is going into her break as a free agent – and would therefore theoretically be free for a move, for example to competitor AEW.

It’s unclear whether she’s actually toying with the idea – it would be a radical break, as “The Man” hasn’t sounded like she has any ambition in that regard in recent years. “WWE is my home and I will retire there,” she assured as recently as December.

She didn’t explicitly rule out an interlude with another league, but anyone who takes a closer look at her situation doesn’t necessarily have to assume that this is now her plan.

As the Pro Wrestling Torch reports, there is great confidence internally at WWE that Lynch will return. “Her body and mind seem to need some time to recover,” an unnamed insider is quoted as saying.

HUSBAND ROLLINS HAS SIGNED NEW WWE DEAL

Also important to know: Lynch and her husband Seth Rollins have a three-year-old daughter and are financially secure – Rollins has just extended his WWE deal, with talk of a “big money contract”.

It looks as if Lynch is keen to be independent of WWE for a while, possibly for negotiating reasons, possibly also to pursue other projects: Lynch has also recently been active in Hollywood, playing WWE-connected pop legend Cyndi Lauper in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s “Young Rock” series.

Only time will tell what Lynch is really up to next.
