Drew McIntyre qualifies for Money in the Bank on RAW – and announces he’ll win the match and cash it in that night
The line-up for one of the most exciting WWE matches of the year is complete – and this show finale has added to the excitement.
On the latest edition of the Monday Night RAW TV show, Zoey Stark and Drew McIntyre secured the final tickets for the ladder matches at Saturday’s big Money in the Bank event. McIntyre defeated his old rival Sheamus and German-Russian shooting star Ilya Dragunov in a high-class match at the end of the show – and then dropped a bombshell.
Drew McIntyre wants to leave Money in the Bank as champ
McIntyre addressed the crowd after his win and not only predicted that he would win the MITB match on Saturday. He also declared that he would “leave Toronto as World Champion” that day
So the “Scottish Warrior” announced he would cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase on the same day – and now hangs as a sword of Damocles over champion Damian Priest (who dethroned McIntyre himself at WrestleMania with the Money in the Bank cash-in) and the challenger McIntyre defeated at Mania, Seth Rollins.
As prominently as WWE has staged McIntyre’s prophecy, it’s now clear that it will play a key role on Saturday: Either by McIntyre making it come true – or by being prevented from doing so in spectacular fashion.
CM Punk spoiling the game again?
Scenario B once again calls for an unannounced appearance by McIntyre’s arch-rival CM Punk, who has already cost him the title at WrestleMania and most recently at Clash at the Castle. McIntyre got his revenge last week by attacking and hospitalizing Punk in his home country – supposedly prolonging his injury layoff.
Whoever is crowned champion at the end of Money in the Bank will face King of the Ring winner Gunther of Austria at SummerSlam on August 3 at Cleveland’s NFL Stadium. It remains to be seen if it will be McIntyre – or if the SummerSlam schedule will be different for him.
McIntyre’s opponents on Saturday are Jey Uso, Carmelo Hayes, Andrade, Chad Gable and LA Knight. On the women’s side, Stark is joined by Iyo Sky, Chelsea Green, Lyra Valkyria, Tiffany Stratton and Naomi
