The main event of the WWE Monday Night RAW show features wild scenes: two super heavyweights cause the venue to collapse – followed by another surprise.
Wild scenes at WWE’s weekly Monday show!
In the main event of the TV show Monday Night RAW, super heavyweights Braun Strowman and “Big” Bronson Reed delivered a chaotic fight, in which the ring collapsed under the two colossi – and it was not the last surprise that the wrestling league had in store that evening.
WWE RAW: Ring collapses under Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed
Strowman – according to WWE, he weighs 174 kilograms – and Reed (150) have been in a feud for several weeks that now culminated in a “Last Monster Standing Match”. The aim was a classic knockout action in which the opponent should remain lying until the referee counted to 10.
The fight in the city of Evansville, Indiana, got completely out of hand, especially in the last few minutes: Reed was attacked outside the ring by RAW General Manager Adam Pearce, an armada of officials intervened – until Strowman flew spectacularly into the crowd from the top rope, knocking everyone down.
WWE then went one better when Reed Strowman later performed a suplex from the top rope into the ring – causing the ring to collapse and the referee to tumble outside.
It was obviously not an accident, but a staged event planned in advance by preparing the ring. WWE has staged a ring collapse before, during the legendary giant duel between Brock Lesnar and The Big Show – and again between Big Show and the then-up-and-coming Strowman in 2017.
Seth Rollins returns and decides the match
When the count was taken to see if Strowman, Reed or possibly both would not get up, the final point of the fight came: Reed rose, but was struck down again by the returning Seth Rollins – Rollins missed Reed’s stomp finisher on the ring stairs.
Rollins had not been seen in WWE since Reed attacked him violently in early August. According to media reports, Rollins was given a break to recover from minor injuries – which was explained by Reed’s attack.
In the end, Strowman got up in time and was celebrated as the superior monster in the midst of a scene of destruction, just as he was against Big Show.
