WWE clarifies groundbreaking personnel matters

Wrestling market leader WWE signs several well-known stars to long-term contracts. Becky Lynch also makes a pledge of allegiance

Which league will Seth Rollins be under contract with in a year’s time? Which one will Drew McIntyre be with, where will the exceptional Japanese wrestler Kazuchika Okada be?

While some of the big contract personalities for the 2024 wrestling year are still unanswered, industry leader WWE has already put its money where its mouth is with other prominent stars and taken them off the market for competitor AEW: According to consistent media reports, living legend Rey Mysterio and his up-and-coming son Dominik have recently signed new contracts, as has the currently injured record women’s champion Charlotte Flair.

WWE can obviously also continue to plan with another top female star

Dominik and Rey Mysterio remain loyal to WWE

In the past few days, a report from Pro Wrestling Insider first revealed that 26-year-old Dominik Mysterio – who has made his breakthrough in WWE over the past year and a half as the unloved “heel” – committed to WWE on a longer-term basis last month.

The exact length of the contract is not confirmed, the insider speaks of a 5-year contract – but expressly emphasizes that he is only referring to one source, not, as is usual in journalism, to several insiders who would have confirmed it independently of each other.

Shortly afterwards, several portals reported that father Rey Mysterio, who recently turned 49, will also remain with WWE. According to Haus of Wrestling, he signed a three-year contract, just like his last extension in 2020.

Charlotte Flair reportedly got a “huge” raise

Some time ago, Charlotte Flair, who has just been sidelined with a torn cruciate ligament, also signed a new deal: According to Fightful, the new contract for the 37-year-old daughter of legend Ric Flair is very lucrative. There is talk of “a huge pay rise” and “one of the highest-paying deals a woman has ever received in WWE”.

Flair is said to have earned seven figures since 2019 – the year she competed against Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch in the first women’s main event at the WrestleMania mega-show. Flair, Rousey and Lynch were reportedly the first WWE women to earn millions.

The new deal for Flair also shows that the internal disputes that came to light in an open conflict with companion Lynch in the fall of 2021 are no longer an issue. In the near future, WWE could also see a reunion between Flair and husband Andrade El Idolo, who is soon to be a free agent and has often hinted that he is not happy at competitor AEW.

Becky Lynch with pledge of allegiance

Lynch – who made history in 2019 as the acclaimed winner of WrestleMania – will apparently remain loyal to WWE fans.

After it was recently announced that her husband Rollins’ contract is due to expire next summer, as is hers, the Irishwoman has made a public declaration of loyalty to WWE.

She will “retire” from WWE, “The Man” announced in an interview with the podcast Strutting From Gorilla. She has been emotionally attached to the league since her time as a fan and feels “at home” and respected there. She wants to end her career with WWE.

The market leader therefore does not have to worry about losing the 36-year-old to competitor AEW. How it looks with husband Rollins and other potential free agents in the coming months remains to be seen
