Würzburg without a chance: Bayern pushes the door to the final wide open

After the clear victory in the first game of the BBL semi-final series against Würzburg Baskets, FC Bayern Munich also clearly won the second duel. The 99:75 victory leaves the door to the final wide open

The FC Bayern Munich basketball team is just one win away from reaching the final of the German Basketball League. The best team in the main round also won its second home game in the playoff semi-final series against Würzburg Baskets on Friday and leads the best-of-five series 2:0 after a 99:75 (48:44) victory. As in the first semi-final game, the favorites never trailed. The next game in the series will take place in Würzburg on Sunday.

As in the opening game, Bayern exploited its size advantage, with Devin Booker and Serge Ibaka scoring Munich’s first eleven points. However, Würzburg was able to hold on for longer this time and cut the deficit to 21:22 at the break thanks to Zac Seljaas. The visitors were also mostly on a par with the favorites in the second half and only trailed 44:48.

Darius Perry kept Würzburg in the game for a long time after the break, but Bayern pulled away by double digits for the first time at the end of the third period. The club from Munich pulled away to 90:65 after the break with a 22:5 run and decided the game early on. Three Bayern players – Isaac Bonga, Carsen Edwards and Vladimir Lucic – scored 14 points
