Continuity at GRT-Yamaha: Yamaha satellite team confirms Remy Gardner as Dominique Aegerter’s teammate for 2024 World Superbike Championship season.
Remy Gardner will continue to race for GRT-Yamaha as Dominique Aegerter’s teammate next year. During the WSBK event in Magny-Cours, Yamaha announced the contract extension with the 25-year-old Australian, who moved from MotoGP to the World Superbike Championship last winter.
The season so far has had its ups and downs for Gardner. Most recently, the form curve showed a strong upward trend. With top 6 results in Most, Gardner said goodbye to the summer break. At the upcoming events, the former Moto2 World Champion wants to improve further and then make a big step in his second year.
“I am very pleased to announce my contract extension with Yamaha for the 2024 season and I believe we have a promising future together. Next year will be my second year with the R1 and I couldn’t be happier with the GRT Yamaha team,” commented Gardner.
“With an extra year of experience behind us, I have high hopes for our performance,” said Gardner. “I already feel like I’m at home, so it’s a great feeling to continue this journey. I want to express my sincere thanks to Yamaha for this fantastic opportunity. “
Yamaha has big expectations for 2024
With Gardner’s contract extension, Yamaha has finalised the factory team and satellite team places. Jonathan Rea and Andrea Locatelli will start for the factory team next year and at GRT Dominique Aegerter and Remy Gardner will receive comparable material.
Yamaha WSBK Project Director Andrea Dosoli justifies the extension of Gardner’s contract: “We see both the talent and potential of Remy, and although his debut season in WSBK has been somewhat inconsistent so far, we are confident that we can achieve our goals together this season and next season. “
