WSBK 2022: Philipp Öttl’s GoEleven Ducati presented

Philipp Öttl is contesting his rookie season in the World Superbike Championship with a Ducati Panigale V4R in turquoise, black and white and is harbouring great anticipation

If Philipp Öttl and the Ducati Team GoEleven have their way, then it can begin: the 2022 season of the Superbike World Championship (WSBK). On Sunday, in Cherasco in the Italian region of Piedmont, the motorbike with which Öttl will be hunting for world championship points this year was presented.

One of six rookies on the 2022 WSBK grid, Öttl will pilot a Ducati Panigale V4R styled in turquoise, black and white with yellow accents. The son of Peter Öttl will compete in his first season in the World Superbike Championship with the starting number 5 – the number with which he has regularly claimed podium places in the Supersport World Championship over the past two years.

“I’m looking forward to this new phase in my life,” said the 25-year-old Öttl at the team presentation on Sunday. The Panigale, which he tested in its unpainted version in Portimao in February, has “unbelievable potential” and he says: “I can’t wait to get back on the bike and go out on the track.

At GoEleven-Ducati, Öttl is the successor to Chaz Davies, who has hung up his helmet at the end of the 2021 season. Öttl’s first outing in the turquoise-dominated colours of Gianni Ramello’s team will be from Tuesday to Thursday next week (15-17 March) at the WSBK winter test in Misano. The season opener is scheduled for the second weekend of April (9/10 April) at Motorland Aragon in the 2022 World Superbike Championship calendar.
