Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki has been given a wildcard for the Australian Open in Melbourne in January. This was announced by the organizers of the first Grand Slam of the new year
The 33-year-old Dane won the tournament in 2018 and returned to the WTA Tour in August after a three-and-a-half-year break to have a baby. The mother of two is currently ranked 242nd in the world.
“Melbourne is one of my favorite cities in the world and I can’t wait to share that with my family and my kids. I’m very grateful to everyone for the wildcard and the opportunity to compete at the AO again in January,” said Wozniacki. She celebrated her comeback at the WTA tournament in Montreal, Canada, in August and reached the round of 16 at the US Open in New York.
