Russia and Belarus are not allowed to participate in the Billie Jean King Cup for women or the Davis Cup for men. This was decided by the World Tennis Federation. The successors have already been determined.
The tennis world federation ITF has confirmed the exclusion of the teams of Russia and Belarus from the team competitions because of the Russian attack on Ukraine. In the women’s Billie Jean King Cup, Australia will take the place of defending champions Russia in the finals. Belgium, which would have had to play Belarus in the qualifiers on 15 and 16 April, now gets a bye and is thus also qualified for the finals. Germany has to play Kazakhstan in the qualifiers.
In the men’s Davis Cup, Serbia will replace defending champion Russia in the finals. The ITF will decide at a later date who will receive Serbia’s wildcard. Germany qualified for the group stage with a 3:1 victory in Brazil. This will take place at four venues yet to be determined. The German Tennis Federation has applied to host a group in Hamburg. It has also not yet been decided where the final round will take place.
