The World Cup 2018 only started a week ago but we have already been treated to plenty of goals and lots of great football action. Today’s World Cup matches see two of the heavyweights in action as France take on Peru and then Argentina play Croatia.
After seven days of football, every single game has had at least one goal in it and the games today look like they could see plenty more goals to keep this trend going.
Denmark vs. Australia
Australia lost their first match to France, so they will be looking to get a result against Denmark to prevent their World Cup dreams from being over after just two games. Denmark’s Christian Eriksen will want to show the world what he is capable of after a great season at Tottenham. The free-kick specialist should have a good chance of leading his team to a win against Australia.
France vs. Peru
France have an embarrassment of riches in their team and it was surprising that they did not mage to beat Australia more convincingly. Their expensive strike-force will be hoping to catch some of the high scoring players of the tournament, so you can expect Griezmann to be trying his utmost to get a goal or two. Peru lost their opening match so they need to get a result today to stand any chance of staying in the tournament after the group stage.
Argentina vs. Croatia
This match looks like the pick of the day as Lionel Messi and co. line-up against a solid Croatia team that looked very comfortable as they beat Nigeria in their first game. Messi will have seen Ronaldo soar up the goal scoring charts so this may spur him on to get in on the act himself. A saved penalty stopped him from getting his World Cup off to a scoring start against Iceland and they looked like they were not quite up to speed yet. Today could be the day that Argentina remind the world why they should never be written off!
