Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz will not take part in the Swiss Indoors in Basel, which starts on Saturday. According to the organisers of the tennis tournament, the 21-year-old world number two from Spain has to pull out due to inflammation of the sole of his left foot and problems in his gluteal muscles, according to his doctor.

Alcaraz is now targeting the prestigious Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy in early November, where he could face world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia. Recently, Alcaraz had remained below his potential. On the tour of Asia, he lost to Jannik Sinner of Italy in the semi-finals in Beijing and to Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in the last 16 of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai.
