Once again, the Wimbledon organizers are increasing the prize money for the tennis pros. It is now twice as high as in 2014
At Wimbledon, the tennis pros can look forward to record prize money. The organizers are paying out more than 59 million euros for this year’s edition of the Grand Slam classic.
The prize money has doubled in the past ten years from 25 million pounds to 50 million pounds, the organizers announced on Thursday. The winners in the singles will each receive prize money of almost 3.2 million euros. First round losers in the singles will receive around 71,000 euros.
This year’s edition will be held from July 1 to 14. Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion in the men’s singles. Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic won the women’s title last year.
