And after turbulent months with the cruciate ligament rupture and the fuss about his identity, the 23-year-old finally has every reason to shine again. Silas is in the final spurt of his comeback – he may already celebrate it in the upcoming Bundesliga match at Borussia Dortmund.
This week, the winger, who scored eleven goals and set up five in 25 games last season, is already practising completely with the team again, although he is not yet fighting any duels. “With every training session he gets one step closer to playing again,” said Mislintat.
Silas still lacks “the necessary intensity in training, the full load – for example with physical contact”. But this next step is normally planned for the coming training week. “If the values are right,” says Mislintat, “it could lead to 10 or 15 minutes in Dortmund.
