Sadio Mané is expected to sign his contract with FC Bayern next week and be presented. His signing is a coup that will hugely increase the pressure on the wing positions in particular.
On Friday, those responsible from FC Bayern and Liverpool FC agreed on a transfer fee for Sadio Mané: 32 million euros plus up to eight million euros in bonus payments. Mané is expected to sign his contract in Munich next week. He is also due to be officially presented on a larger scale, probably on Wednesday.
Pressure on the wing increases tremendously
His signing is a great signal. On the one hand externally – players like Mané make the Bundesliga more attractive. On the other hand internally – there it’s an announcement to the wingers Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané. The performances of the two internationals, especially in the second half of last season, did not convince the bosses that Munich’s wings are well enough manned. With Mané comes not a back-up, but a starter. A regular who was always a starter even in the star ensemble under Jürgen Klopp. Which is why Gnabry and Sané, because Kingsley Coman is also ahead of them on the other side, now have to fight and fear for their place. Even Jamal Musiala had been given preference in the championship final.
Bayern are equipped should Gnabry not extend
In addition, Bayern are now well prepared in the event that a contract extension with Gnabry does not materialise. The Munich side have made him an offer, the attacker is taking his time, felt he was not valued. In principle, however, the 26-year-old wants to stay with the FCB.
